Questions about Modular Homes

When will our new home arrive?

Because our homes are built in a weather controlled atmosphere, the building process never stops, allowing us to deliver a home in about 5 or 6 weeks (depending on the season), as compared to months for a site built home.

Can I look at a completed home?

In larger cities limited home sales sites are offered. This can be helpful to the new home buyer, but costs for maintaining this home have been passed on to you, the buyer. We treat our Modular Home selection process the same as you would encounter when you select a site built home. We sit down together and create your dream home.

What design changes can I apply to suggested floor plans?

You can customize your home just about any way you want in order to suit your family's requirements. You are creating a "stick built home" that we are going to build in our factory.

Why do modular homes cost about 30% less than a site built home?

During construction, we can cut costs in many ways. Our building site is flat and level with materials always close at hand and ready to install. We buy raw materials, appliances, plumbing fixtures, carpeting and other building components in bulk, thus saving building costs. We also cut our building materials waste because of our engineers building procedures.

How is quality control assured?

For 35 years we have produced a beautiful, functional and energy efficient home because of our highly motivated and trained factory personnel. We can insure a reliable product because the same employees and sub-contractors are utilized. We can train and evaluate their work and make corrections to be certain the same product leaves the factory. Also, following our quality control inspections, are state and federal inspectors who certify for HUD, VA, FHA, etc. Inspectors are constant unlike on a site built home where inspections are minimal and irregularities could product problems and go undetected until you have moved in.

Is it easier to put a modular home on my site than a stick built home?

The same State and County building requirements exist for both types of homes. We know that a new home owner may find the coordination of these tasks overwhelming, so we continue to offer guidance from acquiring your post office address to move in day. So, to answer this question, yes - it is easier to move into a Big Country Modular Home because we take the frustration out of the process.

Where will I find people to do the septic, well, basement, gutters, etc.?

What lending institution must I use?

Interest rates, loan duration and home insurance as well as home appraisals are figured the same as a site built home. We can assist you with financing every step of the way.
